I let a guest hijack my episode, and learned this valuable lesson

Wednesday, I shared the story of a recent inspiring guest on my show.

There was an another episode early in my Podcast Junkies journey that also still sticks with me—and not in a good way.

The guest came in hot. Confident. Charismatic. And from the jump, they dominated the conversation. I barely got a word in. I kept thinking, “Okay, maybe I’ll jump in after this next point…” but that point never came.

When I played the recording back, I cringed. Not because the guest was bad—honestly, they were great—but because I had disappeared.

That episode taught me a hard but powerful lesson:

Being a good host doesn’t mean fading into the background.

It means holding the space.
It means guiding the conversation.
It means knowing when to steer, when to dig deeper, and when to challenge.

This is what remind students and clients to always be on the look out for—losing your voice in someone else’s story.

So if you’ve ever walked away from an interview wondering where you went… I see you.

That was the episode that made me step into my authority as a host.
What’s been your version of that moment?

Hit reply—I’d love to hear it.

Let’s be real Reader—hitting “publish” isn’t enough anymore. You pour hours into recording, editing, and uploading an episode… and then what? You hope someone finds it? That’s not a growth strategy. That’s a gamble. Podcasting isn’t just about creating—it’s about getting your content in front of the right people, consistently. That’s the Expansion phase of The Podcaster’s Labyrinth. It’s also where most creators get stuck. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to hustle harder to solve...

Let’s talk about the real reason your podcast (or podcast plan) isn’t getting the traction you want. It’s not the algorithm. It’s not your mic. It’s not even the competition. It’s that you’re still hiding. You’re holding back. You’re tiptoeing around your real message, diluting your voice with disclaimers and playing it safe with your message—hoping people will just find you. I get it. I used to do the same. But here’s the truth: you cannot build authority if you’re still waiting for...
