What I was reminded of at Podcast Movement last week

I love returning to Podcast Movement every year.

It's a great chance to connect with my podcast peeps, some of whom I've known since the very first one in 2014!

It's always fun to meet new podcasters as well, super excited in the early days of their show.

Something I was reminded of last week as I was connecting with podcasters of every variety:

Stop trying to be EVERYWHERE to grow your podcast.

Facebook. Instagram. Twitter (now X). LinkedIn. TikTok. YouTube. Snapchat.

The list never ends, does it?

Years ago, I remember sitting at my desk one night, completely overwhelmed by all the content I thought I needed to create.

My podcast was growing... but barely. And I was exhausted.

Then I had a revelation that changed everything.

What if less was actually more?

Here's what the data actually shows (and what nobody is talking about):

73% of people have listened to a podcast before. That's not niche anymore, friend. That's mainstream.

YouTube has become the #1 platform for podcast consumption. And the average listener? They're consuming 5-6 episodes per week.

That's about 7 hours of listening time. This isn't casual engagement—it's deep, committed attention.

So here's the truth I wish someone had told me years ago:

Spreading yourself thin across 47 platforms is the fastest way to burnout and mediocre results.

Instead, try this approach:

Pick ONE platform where you already have traction. Just one.

Maybe it's LinkedIn. Maybe it's Instagram. Wherever your people already hang out.

Then, for each episode, create just 2-3 content pieces for that platform.

This could be:

• A 30-60 second clip of a golden moment

• A pull quote turned into a simple graphic

• A short story or lesson from the episode as a text post

That's it.

Not daily content. Not everywhere. Just focused, intentional sharing.

The time investment? About 1-2 hours per week if you batch it.

Enough to stay consistent without burning out.

From there, add one lead magnet that speaks directly to your audience's problem, and a simple 5-part email sequence that delivers value while reminding them about your show.

Sometimes the fastest path to 100 subscribers isn't chasing strangers. It's showing up consistently for the 50 people who already know you.

I'd love to know—what platform has given you the most organic podcast growth? Hit reply and let me know.

With gratitude,

Harry 'Less-Is-More' Duran

I had something happen early this morning that made me laugh. One of our hens (Pickle if you're curious) woke us up with the strangest cackling sounds. It was barely 6am. I tell ya, these ladies all their own unique personalities. But I've come to love them as sassy pets! Here's the other thing that made me laugh. I was thinking about the early days of my shows, Podcast Junkies and Vertical Farming Podcast. I would stare at my podcast analytics, refreshing the page every few minutes like it...

Peep this Reader, I had a creator reach out to me last week, frustrated beyond belief. "Harry, I've been posting consistently for 6 months. My views are flatlined. What am I doing wrong?" Sound familiar? For years, I told podcasters and content creators the same thing everyone else did: "Just keep uploading. The algorithm will find you eventually." I was wrong.Dead wrong. And I feel terrible about it. The truth? YouTube in 2025 is a completely different beast than it was even 2-3 years ago....

I had a painful realization this morning while reviewing a client's podcast. Their content was incredible.Their delivery was engaging.Their editing was pristine. But their trailer? It was practically invisible. And it hit me – they were making the exact same mistake I made when I launched Podcast Junkies years ago. They were treating their trailer like an afterthought instead of the powerful growth tool it actually is. Here's the truth: your trailer is your digital handshake. It's that...
