Your show’s not a CostCo sample table. Stop giving it all away.

This week, I caught myself falling into a familiar trap.

A client asked for “just one more quick edit.” Another wanted help with strategy outside of scope. And before I knew it, my boundaries were out the window.

Sound familiar?

It’s a sneaky pattern—especially for podcasters. You start bending to every guest, every audience member, every trend. You over-deliver, over-give, and overthink.

And suddenly, your show starts feeling heavy. Unclear. Misaligned.

Here’s the truth I’ve learned after running Podcast Junkies and our done-for-you podcast agency FullCast for nearly a decade:

Trying to be everything to everyone guarantees you’ll mean nothing to anyone.

The more focused your message, the more magnetic your show becomes.
The clearer your boundaries, the more you protect your energy—and your growth.

So this Sunday, ask yourself:
Where have I been leaking time, energy, or focus in my podcast?
What would shift if I actually claimed my lane—and stayed in it?

You don’t have to do it all. You just have to do what’s true to you, really well.

Let that be your recalibration for the week ahead.

I’ve recorded a lot of interviews over the years—some inspiring, some fun, some forgettable. But every now and then, an episode hits different. One guest in particular cracked something open in me. It wasn’t just their story—it was the way they told it. The honesty. The energy. The unexpected clarity that came from that conversation stuck with me long after we hit “stop.” It changed the way I prep. It changed how I listen. It changed how I show up to the mic. We often think about the value...

It’s 11:10 as I write this email. I just realized that I hadn’t sent my daily email. You know, the one I’ve been sending since January of this year. And for a micro-second I thought, “oh well, I’ll just start again tomorrow.” Oh, hellllzzz no. Which is why I’m pecking this out on my iPhone. Consistency is good. Commitment is better. Let’s get real for a second. Are you a podcaster… or just a content machine going through the motions? I ask because I’ve seen it—heck, I’ve lived it. You’re publishing every week. You’re consistent. But something feels off. You’re showing up… but not really showing up. That spark you had when you first hit record? Gone. The excitement about your message? Replaced with checklists and burnout. Here’s the hard truth: Consistency without intention is just noise. If you’re not clear on where your...
