Stop trying to be everywhere, it's clearly not working


I made a rookie mistake when I first started podcasting.

I thought I needed to be EVERYWHERE.

Instagram? Check. Facebook? Of course. Twitter? Absolutely. TikTok? Why not?

I was creating content for so many platforms that I was completely burnt out within weeks.

And the worst part?

Nobody was finding my show.

I was shouting into the void on every platform and getting zero traction.

Sound familiar?

Here’s what I wish someone had told me back then: trying to be everywhere means you end up being nowhere.

The data backs this up too.

According to industry research, a whopping 87% of podcast growth comes from strategic partnerships – not from frantically posting across every social platform.

Let that sink in for a moment.

All that energy I was spending trying to maintain five different social profiles could have been channeled into ONE strategy that actually works.

So what’s the alternative?

I call it the Deep Dive Framework, and it’s transformed how I approach growing my podcast:

  1. Pick ONE discovery platform and go ALL IN. Whether it’s LinkedIn, TikTok, or Instagram, stop dabbling and start dominating.
  2. Find 3-5 niche-aligned shows for cross-promotion. Look for complementary audiences, not competitors.
  3. Create a newsjacking system with Google Trends alerts for your industry. Be the FIRST voice covering what’s happening.
  4. Build your listener referral loop. Ask existing listeners to invite just 3 people, then recognize them publicly.
  5. Repurpose ruthlessly. Turn every episode into 5-10 pieces of short-form content for your chosen platform.

But here’s the key most podcasters miss:

Stop trying to reach everyone and start obsessing over serving the people already listening.

They’re your best marketing team.

Your existing listeners are the ones who will champion your show if you give them the attention they deserve.

Imagine that – growing faster while working less.

That’s the power of focused strategy over scattered tactics.
