It's sorta embarrassing to admit Reader, I made a rookie mistake with my podcast for years. I thought YouTube was just for people who wanted to make fancy unboxing videos. Boy, was I wrong. Last month, I was chatting with a podcaster friend who casually mentioned that 70% of her listeners come from YouTube. Wait, what? I nearly spat out my mushroom coffee (story for a later post). She doesn't even do anything fancy with her video - just a simple camera setup and basic lighting. But her audience growth has been exponential compared to mine. This got me thinking about how I've been limiting my own podcast's potential. Maybe you have too? Here's the truth: YouTube isn't just another platform for podcasters. It's becoming THE platform. I used to believe all these myths about YouTube: • That it's only for visual content creators • That my audio-first listeners wouldn't go there • That small creators like me would get lost in the noise But I've completely changed my perspective. YouTube is dominating podcast listening for some really compelling reasons: It makes discovery ridiculously easy. The algorithm actually helps new listeners find you (unlike some podcast apps I could mention). Listeners get options. They can watch if they want, or just listen while doing other things. The audience is MASSIVE. We're talking billions of potential listeners, not millions. The community aspect is unmatched. Comments, likes, and shares create real connection with your audience. You get immediate feedback on what's working (and what's not). We've started implementing this shift with our client shows, and while it's early days, we're already seeing growth I never experienced in 8 years of being audio-only. The learning curve isn't nearly as steep as I feared. And the potential upside is enormous. If you're still on the fence about putting your podcast on YouTube, I get it. Change is uncomfortable. But sometimes the uncomfortable path leads to the biggest breakthroughs. Are you ready to unlock the next level of growth for your show? YouTube isn't just another option for podcasters anymore. It's becoming essential. With gratitude, Harry 'Finally Seeing The Light' Duran P.S. When you're ready to expand your podcast's reach beyond traditional audio platforms, I'm here to help. |

Reader, Quick note before the holidays. In January, I’m opening a small, invitation-only pilot for founders who have been seriously considering a podcast—but only if it’s done with intention, craft, and long-term leverage. This is for founders who: Already see podcasting as an authority play (not a vanity project) Have a small team (1–3 people) and limited margin for distraction Care about credibility, relationships, and signal—not just downloads The focus of the pilot is to help you design a...
“You don’t need more leads. You need more meaningful conversations.” The lightbulb moment was almost visible above his head. I was chatting with a prospect that was having a challenging time connecting with a qualified and relevant audience.. It's a problem I see all too often. Most businesses are drowning in leads but starving for genuine connections. I learned this lesson the hard way myself. Three years ago, I was obsessively focused on growing my email list. More subscribers meant more...
In my sophomore year of college, I discovered the pool hall on campus. Those first few weeks were definitely intimidating because I knew nothing about playing pool. There were many great players there. And over the next few months, thru observation and some friendly coaching, I learned a lot and became a semi-decent player. I picked it up as a hobby, and the skill has come in handy over the years. But one thing is clear: there's a difference between being a professional and doing something...
